History & Staff

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

Our History

Our History

After seeing a trend in the funeral industry moving towards cremation, Artie Morvant, one of the original owners of Samart Funeral Home and crematory, opened the funeral home, cemetery, and crematory on the grounds on which they are currently located in the summer of 1995. Offering affordable, low-cost, funerals, cremations, and burials allowed the funeral home to expand rapidly.

In the early 2000’s, new investors purchased the funeral home and operated it until 2006 when the company was renamed Samart Funeral Home of Houma. Currently it is owned and operated by a local family with many years of experience in the funeral industry.  Samart Funeral Home of Houma continues to honor our original concept of being a leader in the community offering dignified and affordable funerals, cremations, and burials.
