Samart Funeral Home has been serving the Houma and Gray area communities for many years. We’re thankful to be an important part of this community and will continue our longstanding legacy of helping families honor their loved ones.
After seeing a trend in the funeral industry moving towards cremation, Artie Morvant, one of the original owners of Samart Funeral Home and crematory, opened the funeral home, cemetery, and crematory on the grounds on which they are currently located in the summer of 1995. Offering affordable, low-cost, funerals, cremations, and burials allowed the funeral home to expand rapidly.
In the early 2000’s, new investors purchased the funeral home and operated it until 2006 when the company was renamed Samart Funeral Home of Houma. Currently, it is owned and operated by a local family with many years of experience in the funeral industry. Samart Funeral Home of Houma continues to honor our original concept of being a leader in the community offering dignified and affordable funerals, cremations, and burials.
Soon afterwards, the current owners of Samart Funeral Home of Houma, seeing the need to expand the funeral their operations even further, opened Samart Funeral Home of Gray in order to serve the local community more fully by extending their services to a wider geographical area. This new, modern facility and its experienced staff of funeral services professionals offers a wide variety of funeral and crematory services meeting the respective needs of the larger community.
